Would the owner of an ounce of dignity please contact the mall security? [Dec. 29th, 2003|12:26 pm]

[Current Mood |accomplished]

Hi. Welcome to the Anti_Scenester community at LiveJournal.

This is a place for music fans to come and share their thoughts and frustrations with the modern music "scene." I have quickly grown an intense distaste for it, from the standpoint of a fan and of a musician. Unfortunately, for many many people, music and shows are just a fashion thing. It's these same people who listen to one band, and say every other band sucks because it's not the band they listen to. I'm talking about the people who go to shows and heckle every band that comes on stage because they aren't "cool." It's about making music, not what music will make people think you are fashionable. Cut the Hot Topic crap and bring back the essence of music.

Longwinded, yes. Wrong, probably not.

Anyways, I'm sure I'm not the only person out there that feels this way. If you have anything to say, make your voice heard. If you'd like to join this group, give send me an email introducing yourself.

Keep it real.

Scenesters are pathetic individuals who try to find identity in the most inane, retarded way: through fashion. And, the music sucks too; it's full of pretentious and lackluster lyrics as well as terrible musicianship that lacks passion.

What's the worst quality of the scenester nation? It's another materialistic obsession that contains no message that my idiot peers seem to be embracing. It makes sense, though. If they are to become "good consumers" when they "grow up", they must embrace materialism and the art of mindless comsumption so hey, why not get them when they're young and impressionable? Brilliant.

These ambassadors of pretense are an eyesore and as soon as black hair dye and sauconys aren't cool anymore I'm sure they will fade away just as every other fad eventually does.

me and my friends went to an arlington heights show (scene bands) with our friend whos a scenester. around the third band, my brother starts making fun of their dances (high kicks, rapid rotation of the arms etc) and this on fat guy comes straight for my brother (whos only 16) and starts choking him. I get right on top of the guy and all my other friends are getting punched in the face and everything. then we get kicked out for supposedly starting the fucking brawl and this little scenester kid wants to kick all of our asses. I shit on the scene, who are all exclusive and a pathetic waste of breath. if they cant get mocked, their entity is a total mindless conundrum. fuck chicago scene

I agreed up until Hot Topic. You were talking about music, not about saving the "punk subculture".
People say they hate Hot Topic so they can be accepted by anti-scene kids, which is fast turning into the new scene.
I, for one, by an occasional band shirt at Hot Topic. Fuck not liking things just because it's anti-mainstream not to like them.
